This 3-day Mount Kenya hiking itinerary is perfect for adventurous travelers looking for a short yet rewarding trek on Africa’s second-highest mountain. The Sirimon Route is the most popular choice for a 3-day hike, as it offers gradual acclimatization, breathtaking alpine scenery, and excellent opportunities to reach Point Lenana (4,985m).
Please note that this adventure requires a good level of energy and is one of our least booked Mount Kenya hiking tours. We recommend reviewing our Mount Kenya hiking guide for a thorough understanding before embarking on your journey.
For a hiking adventure ideal for first-timers, the 4-Day Mt Kenya hike or the 5-Day Mt Kenya hike would be the best choice for you.
Depart Nairobi early in the morning and drive through the central highlands to Nanyuki, the gateway town to Mount Kenya National Park. After registration at Sirimon Gate (2,650m), begin your hike through montane forest, bamboo zones, and giant heather vegetation.
The trail is gentle and perfect for acclimatization. Enjoy views of Mount Kenya’s peaks and occasional sightings of colobus monkeys and mountain birds.
